Dear Friends, "I am 70 years old, but no one has ever brought me such words and such help!" With gratitude, Rosa from the Pamir region gives us a smile. She, like many widows and orphans, needs help to survive the next winter. YOU CAN HELP THESE WIDOWS NOW! Help them get through the winter and give them the Word that gives life! READ MORE INFORMATION AND GET INVOLVED!
You wouldn’t ‘t expects to see so much energy and strength in this small, frail-looking woman. After a long working life, she is one of the poorest in her mountain village in Pamir,Tajikistan, but she is never discouraged. With her unwavering courage, her gratitude, and her hospitality, Rosa presents us with a gift every time we visit her and bring her help. She quickly warms up the stove in the center of the room and tells us about her life. How she was enthusiastic about communism, how she worked as a nurse for over 40 years, and 12 of them in Afghanistan. How she was on the run with her husband and two children during the civil war in Tajikistan until they returned to the Pamir region, where her husband died after a long illness.
The poverty of the Pamir region‘s population hits the widowed Rosa particularly hard. In her house, only one room is habitable, where Rosa lives with her son and three grandchildren, her daughter‘s children - without a bathroom or running water. Plus icy winters in the high Pamir mountains. Rosa does not yet receive a pension because the years she worked in Afghanistan do not count. Food is often lacking, and there have been times, Rosa says, when they didn‘t even have soap.
Ever since God opened the doors to the Pamir region, Christians have been able to bring her much-needed help, especially food and firewood for the winter. Missionary S., who serves among the Pamirs, often visits Rosa. "With him comes true blessing into our home," Rosa rejoices. She and her son listen attentively when Brother S. speaks from the Gospel, and the Word of God is deeply rooted in their hearts. When I once challenged them to memorize a verse from Acts (16:31), she read it and said, deeply excited: "Now I have understood this: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you and your family will be saved!"
Pray that these words would be fulfilled in Rosa‘s life. Rosa contributed her own small room so that other villagers could come and hear God‘s word. The Lord uses your help for widows and orphans as a powerful witness, opening people's hearts to His Word.
