The conditions for the survivors are dramatic. Many endure the winter cold, without drinking water, without warm clothing, without a roof over their heads. Those who have a vehicle spend the night in their cars, because buildings are still collapsing. Aid is announced from all over the world, but precious time passes before it arrives in the crisis area and reaches those affected. Time that is working against the survivors. Time that we must use to help them.‍

Team work with local churches

‍Through our contacts and partners on the ground, we aim to equip churches to provide IMMEDIATE HELP to people in need.

We serve through partner churches and other local churches in southeastern Turkey, especially through churches in Diyarbakir, Adana, Antakya and Kayseri.

A Bible Mission staff and leadership member has been in Turkey since Wednesday to coordinate aid deliveries and relief efforts on the ground. He reports:

Already the flight from Germany to Turkey was heart-breaking. Overcrowded planes, people crying or mourning with blank stares. The worry about their relatives and the uncertainty were agonising.... Pain that can be felt without words.
Our brothers and sisters on the ground need prayer. Some are still missing, some have not survived. The churches see the need of the people around and they want to help.  From all over Turkey, brothers and sisters are coming to the east to help. Some are 12 hours and more in the car on the way, in order to help here.
There is need everywhere, destruction everywhere. But the biggest problem is the cold of the winter and the lack of drinking water. This is where our help comes in.

Water and heat to survive!

The survivors most urgently need drinking water and heat. Then food.
Relief supplies cannot be imported at this time, but must be purchased locally.

So far we have purchased 6.5 tons of relief supplies:
1,800 liters of drinking water
100 stoves (mostly electric)
650 blankets
warm clothes for 100 people

The relief goods are delivered to the communities and distributed to the needy by the brothers and sisters.
